Black River Systems Company, a small business founded in 1996 and headquartered in Utica, NY, comprises computer scientists, systems engineers, mathematicians, and other technical disciplines. We support the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) with advanced mission capabilities. Our expertise is Research and Development (R&D) for the collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of intelligence products and rapid transitioning of technologies into quick reaction capabilities for operational users. Our expertise includes cyber, SIGINT, geolocation, Moving Target Indicator (MTI) tracking, data fusion and exploitation, sensor resource management, machine learning, modeling and simulation, and end-to-end systems analysis.

Black River leads the industry team for the design, development, and deployment of systems as part of AFRL’s Ninja program. Ninja, a Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System (C-sUAS) system, is a Radio Frequency (RF) sensing solution that passively detects, tracks, classifies, and defeats hostile Group 1 & 2 sUAS.  The Ninja C-sUAS are widely deployed operationally CONUS and OCONUS.
