The German Armed Forces Planning Office has granted a research contract to Airbus Defence and Space, Quantum-Systems, and Spleenlab to showcase and examine the essential artificial intelligence components needed for groups of tactical unmanned aerial systems (UAS) known as swarms. The KITU 2 project, which is financially supported by the German Ministry of Defense, focuses on assessing the effectiveness of tactical UAS.

Airbus Defence and Space will contribute reliable algorithms for swarm coordination, simulated environments for testing, physical equipment for experimentation, and additional artificial intelligence components, whilst Quantum Systems will supply the Vector 2-in-1 tactical aerial reconnaissance platform, which possesses integrated AI edge-computing capabilities.
