The UK's MOD has opened a search into Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites. The contract is valued at £70 million and is estimated to be completed in three years.

Three satellites are required with SAR capabilities and ideally also passive radio functionality (RF). The contract includes all stages from design to disposal.

According to Janes, "the supplier is required to operate the Oberon solution until the ISTARI MoD ground architecture is mature enough to be operated on its own".
