TuffServ SECURITY ENCRYPTION MODULE (TSEM) SUBMITTED TO THE NIST FOR CERTIFICATION

Ampex Data Systems is one of the few first companies to seek Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 accreditation. We have submitted our TuffServ Security Encryption Module (TSEM) to the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) for certification under the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 standards. The TSEM is a cryptographic module that provides secure Data At Rest (DAR) encryption for our hardware solutions. We are one of the few, if not the only, suppliers of fully rugged systems with a certification in process.

Once the TSEM is certified by NIST, Ampex plans to submit a fully compliant Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) solution to the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for certification. The CSfC program is a partnership between NIST and the National Security Agency (NSA) that enables commercial products to be used in classified government networks and systems. CSfC, a successor to NSA Type 1, is quickly gaining popularity due to the flexibility it offers with a dual encryption layer approach and because it reduces dependency on the NSA. By submitting a CSfC solution for certification, Ampex is demonstrating its commitment to providing the highest level of security and protection for its customers' sensitive data.

Overall, with the submission of TSEM to NIST and the planned submission of a CSfC solution to NIAP, Ampex is positioning itself as a leader in providing secure encryption solutions that meet the rigorous standards of the U.S. government.
